Long lines and packed seats was fantastic to see. Especially out here in the country!!!
The Predator is full-bore action from start to finish, it even starts with some Yautja ship warfare!
There is rarely a dull moment, and when there is, it is usually full of jokes and shenanigans from the motley crew. It is a film of running action and running comedy, and it blends well between some brutal violence. Although, it did feel like an Avengers film with the flashy effects, one-liners and fast paced action.
Keegan-Michael Kay and Thomas Jane were absolute stand outs, their characters were brilliantly executed, enhanced by an obvious bond between the two actors. The look of expectation on their faces between banter led many in the cinema to be laughing before they even dropped their punch lines. There is genuine humour in this film built around the comradely between the group. It is reminiscent of Black's Lethal Weapon days.
The Super-predator is a threatening beast with some seriously brutal power and viscous weapons, and is generally unpleasant and violent, tearing and bashing its enemies asunder at will. It is hulking and heavy. I wouldn't say it brings back the fear as was suggested, but it is definitely a new threat!
The Classic Yautja is lithe, fast and deadly and shows remarkable adaptive learning. It even cracks a joke of its own at one point with the severed arm of a guard.....
There is NO predator's riding tanks in human clothing
There is NO alliance between human and yautja.
There is NO female predator.
The boy is NOT responsible for crashing the Yautja ship with the 'remote'.
The plot revolves around the Yautja attempting to upgrade themselves with our DNA to become better adapted to our planet before they move in post-climate change breakdown. There is a 'rogue' predator against them, not a factional war.
Overall it is a solid entry to the franchise, offering up some exciting new possibilities and is the most expansive of the Predator films to date. Though I have some reservations about the direction the sequel looks likely to take...
This is a straight-up action flick. If you are expecting something deep and profound you won't get it. What you will get is some genuine laughs, some big action and adventure, and 100 minutes of entertainment.
Best line "So what you want to know is if someone f$%ked an alien?"

So they upgrade themselves with the DNA of humans who would have died off because of climate change with said DNA but the Predators would survive that changed climate with the human DNA. Sound like a sound plan alright.
(Actual that was only a speculation on behalf of the baddy).

MemberElder PredatorSep-15-2018 2:51 AMIt is mentioned in several of the films that they like the heat, so I wouldn't say that is the phenotypes they are targeting for adaptation.
They are more interested in the 'next stage of human evolution' in the form of mental aptitude/capacity.....

MemberCity HunterSep-15-2018 10:37 AMI would have preferred that they have kept it at the classic yautja with a proper story.
What I want to know is if Shane Black f$%cked the classic predator so bad that its DNA now needs continuous enhancements.
"He survived, he’s now in Disneyland in Orlando, and no way am I going back there. How did he end up in Disneyland? I saw him in Disneyland, Jesus Christ!"

Nowhere in the film does it specify that there was more than one "super-predator". It mentions the species were upgrading their DNA, but not specifically to all be "Super Preds"
